The Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation is looking for a reliable, dedicated, and hard-working person to join our Facilities Maintenance Team as a Maintenance and Operations Specialist. The Facilities Maintenance Team is vital to the lives of Prince William County to maintain our HVAC equipment, refrigeration, and food service equipment.

About This Role: DPR is looking for a skilled professional who is eager to join a team that will recognize your skills and your potential. As our HVAC Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of residential and commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and food service equipment. This position performs advanced, master-level work that includes inspecting, installing, diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, and performing preventive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical systems, such as HVAC equipment, motor control systems, piping, components; replace shaft seals, and bearings.

You'll review project specifications and drawings for code compliance and equipment design, evaluate repair and replacement options, calculate system loads, and safely rig materials during installations. In addition to maintaining detailed service records and daily reports, you'll coordinate contractor activities, prioritize and schedule maintenance work, and provide technical guidance to other maintenance personnel. This role also supports general maintenance needs across other trades as required, making it an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional who enjoys solving complex problems and contributing to the overall success of the facilities team.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of related experience in the HVAC trade. Preferences: 5 or more years of experience performing general maintenance of HVAC Equipment and repairs

Experience operating, maintaining and repairing systems in one or more of the following areas: mechanical systems and maintenance of Commercial and Residential County buildings. Experience working with tools, such as gauges, voltmeters, CFC, bearing and seal pullers, leak detection, grinders, torches, pro press, and general hand tools used in HVAC repair and maintenance. Experience using a computerized maintenance management system, such as work order software.

Experience in other trades- such as carpentry, pool and HVAC. Experience reviewing HVAC project specifications and drawings. Special Requirements: Valid Driver's License and must meet PWC driving eligibility requirements.

Must pass a pre-employment physical examination, driving record check, and background check. Must be at least 18 years of age. May be required to respond to emergencies after normal working hours, as needed.

Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be CFC Universal Certified. Work Schedule: The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m

to 2:00 p.m. Maintenance operations are located at Locust Shade Park in Triangle, Virginia. Rotating On-Call Schedule (varies)
