The Prince George's County Health Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Hospital Liaison (Counselor 1-2A) grade A18-21 position, in the Behavioral Health Division. About the Position This is full-performance professional work in providing services and assistance to client populations with problems in a range of areas (e.g., substance abuse, emotional, behavioral, or related problems). This is a full performance level professional counseling position responsible for providing assessment, individual, group, and/or family counseling services, case management, and referral/linkage to care

The incumbent must have and maintain an active and valid professional counseling license issued by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists, Maryland Board. About the Agency The Prince George's County Health Department's (PGCHD) vision is that all Prince Georgians are their healthiest at every age and every stage. Their mission is to lead, engage, and empower our community to work collaboratively towards disease prevention, health equity, and total well-being.

The PGCHD works to protect and support the public's health through numerous services that range from restaurant inspections and disease tracking to care coordination and health promotion. The department is composed of four divisions: Behavioral Health Services, Environmental Health and Disease Control, Family Health Services, and Health and Wellness, supported by the Office of Administration, Office of Human Resources and the Office of the Health Officer. The mandate of the department has been, and will remain, broad.

This plan emphasizes improving core functions and operations, including protecting the public from health threats, implementing strategies to support healthy living, and maintaining a focus on vulnerable populations, while developing efficient internal processes to support these activities. Examples of Work Conducts face to face or phone screenings (SBIRT), assessments for hospital patients and other individuals to determine substance abuse treatment needs. Facilitates substance abuse treatment for women with children seeking inpatient treatment or outpatient treatment.

Administers DAST and or AUDIT screening tools. Determines appropriate level of care based on ASAM criteria and made appropriate treatment referrals. Documents all contacts with providers in the hospital electronic medical records and the Health Department electronic medical record.

Provides consultation to hospital staff regarding substance abuse and mental health. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited College or University in Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field; or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology. One (1) year of full-time, post-licensure clinical experience providing professional mental health counseling services.

Must possess and maintain one of the licenses listed in the Certification/License section at the time of application. In addition, applicants must have passed the National Counselors Examination or be eligible for licensure by endorsement. The State of Maryland accepts licensure by endorsement for counselors who meet all applicable requirements, including education, examination, and professional standing.

Licensure must be obtained prior to appointment and maintained throughout the duration of employment. Must possess one of the following licenses and have passed the National Counselors Examination and the Maryland State Law Test: LCPC: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor LGPC: Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor LCADC: Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor LGADC: Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor LCP: Licensed Clinical Psychologist LCMFT: Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist LGMFT: Licensed Graduate Marriage and family Therapist Candidates' credentials as a Licensed Graduate (LG), MUST have completed a minimum of 1,500 hours of verifiable supervised experience under the supervision of a fully certified, higher-level counselor to qualify for continued progression to full licensure. Must achieve a passing score on the National Counselors Examination of the National Board for certified Counselors and the State Law Tests, and a candidate placed in this classification must be a verified Licensed Graduate under the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists, in accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.09 (Maryland Department of Health General Licensure Information) Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered

Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a hospital or behavioral health clinical setting. Two (2) or more years working in the substance use disorders field. EACH APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION THAT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.
