Job description

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our integrative team. The ideal candidate will work closely with our lead occupational therapist and supervising COTA to deliver individualized and holistic therapy services to children with a variety of needs, including developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorders, feeding difficulties, orofacial myofunctional disorders and more. Our clinic specialized in feeding therapy, primitive reflex integration, sensory modulation, nervous system based behavioral intervention, and orofacial myofunctional therapy.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
  • Provide hands-on support in therapy sessions, using play-based activities to help children progress in their milestones, facilitate sensory integration, and improve quality of life.
  • Monitor and document progress, adjusting activities as needed to meet therapeutic goals (in collaboration with supervising OTR).
  • Collaborate with families to support therapy goals and offer guidance for at-home activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly therapy environment.
  • Willingness to work with patients toddler through adolescent (with guidance from OTR)
  • Ability to lift children up to 50 lbs regularly and demonstrate gross motor activities for patients.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a COTA in the state of New Jersey.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations, preferably in a clinic setting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for helping children succeed.
  • Knowledge of sensory integration, fine motor development, and neurodivergent-affirming practices is a necessity.
  • Must be comfortable working with both speaking and non speaking children.
  • Must have experience working with children who have a variety of behaviors.
  • Experience in pediatric feeding, orofacial myofunctional therapy and primitive reflex integration is a plus, however education in these areas will be provided.
Additional Information:
We are looking for an additional COTA to grow with the practice, so there are many opportunities for specialized education, support from mentors, and pay increases for an employee that is the right fit. You will have scheduling flexibility but must be available at least 3 afternoon/ early evenings per week. Part time position has the potential to become full time within months.
