Auto Punch Press Operator

Essential Functions- Auto Press Operator Lamination:
Auto Press Operators must be able to perform these functions in a manner that does not compromise their safety or the safety of coworkers. The auto press operator must be able to perform these tasks for a minimum of 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. If an employee is unable to perform these essential functions it is their responsibility to bring this to the attention of their supervisor, manager, or Human Resource Manager. In these situations, ABB will discuss and attempt to provide any reasonable accommodation that may be available.

Operators will be trained in all steps of the job.

Stretching exercises will be done at the beginning of every shift.

Supervisor will go over Job Safety Analysis sheets, safety checklist, personal protective equipment (PPE) and instructions on performing daily clean up.

Requirements:

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Operate punch press equipment safely by verifying all safety mechanisms, press release forms, and emergency stops are functioning before each job run
  • Inspect incoming materials and finished parts for quality defects, verify specifications match blueprints and work orders, and check flatness per coil requirements
  • Manage material processing workflow including feeding materials through straighteners and feeders, monitoring lubrication systems, maintaining loop conveyor operations, and properly shutting down equipment at end of run
  • Maintain safety compliance by wearing required PPE, identifying non-conforming material, completing required documentation, and immediately reporting injuries, accidents, and near misses

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and possess hand-eye coordination and dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and complex equipment including pallet jacks, chain hoists, pneumatic tools, and press controls
  • Commitment to safety with understanding of ABB safety policies, hazard communication, and ability to properly use PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and cut-resistant gloves
  • Capacity to read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions including blueprints, work orders, inventory tags, and ability to use basic mathematics
  • Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining production pace and ability to work scheduled overtime including weekends and short-notice calls
  • Reliable attendance with ability to arrive on time and complete full scheduled work days consistently
  • Willingness to complete on-the-job training on all operational steps and equipment use as required by the position
  • Experience- 0-2 years of industry related experience

While hourly pay rate is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $22.70 and $28.59 hourly. (Shift premium for 2nd & 3rd shift)
