Job Summary: The Press Operator is responsible for printing high-quality store valued/pre-paid card products. To ensure quality consistency, Press Operators pull sheets at regular intervals to examine and make any necessary adjustments to ensure color density is held within 5 points from sheet to sheet. Press Operators are also responsible for a low waste percentage and high output efficiencies through continuous process improvement. This position works a rotating 12 hour shift (5:00am-5:00pm)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct the efforts of the helper assigned to the shift
  • Maintain consistent color control throughout each production run
  • Troubleshoot printing related problems and take corrective course of action
  • Maximize production output through continuous process improvement
  • Minimize production waste through continuous process improvement
  • Utilize all available process control functions that the press is equipped with
  • Observe and follow job ticket instructions
  • Review and adhere to production schedules and suggest efficient changes where warranted
  • Continuous training of the helper to become a future press operator
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Demonstrate working in a smart and safe manner
  • Accurately complete work center time sheets by shift end

Requirements
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience operating commercial-quality, multi-color sheet-fed printing presses, including experience as a lead press operator
  • Technical training in commercial printing equipment, color management, or related manufacturing processes preferred
  • Highly skilled in the setup, operation, maintenance, adjustment, and troubleshooting of commercial-quality, multi-color sheet-fed printing equipment
  • Proficient in the use of color measurement and control equipment, including densitometers, with the ability to interpret data and make precise press adjustments
  • Thorough understanding of quality control standards, inspection methods, and continuous improvement practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of the complete print production process, including design, prepress, press operations, finishing, and packaging, preferably in plastic card or secure document manufacturing
