Job description

Description

This position is responsible for greeting customers, taking customer orders and payment, preparing and delivering coffee and non-coffee products in a timely manner, and creating a positive energetic atmosphere for our customers thereby promoting Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience.


Key Responsibilities
  • Customer service and shift work including welcoming customers to the coffee shop, taking orders and accurately processing payments using the cash register.
  • Prepare beverages and serve products according to department standards and procedures.
  • Work to develop familiarity with customers by knowing their name, favorite or usual order.
  • Follow all cash handling and payment accepting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that floors throughout the department are clean and free of debris.
  • Stock and organize the department as needed.
  • Ensure that the seating area, i.e. tables, counters, chairs, are clean and free of debris.
  • Prepare products for later shifts, weigh out beans for the rest of the day and the next shift. Prepare oatmeal cups, cold press and cooler mix.
  • Responsible for following safe food guidelines.
  • Minimize department losses due to improper product handling, storage, damage and spoils.
  • Perform duties in a manner that safeguards company equipment, resources and image.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Restaurant, retail or customer service experience preferred.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED preferred but not necessary.
Skills & Competencies
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, some holidays and weekends (on average 10-15 hours per week).
  • Must be honest and dependable.
  • Must be able to work independently, be self motivated, and work as a team member.
  • Must be able to clearly speak, read and write the English language.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Constant standing, walking, hearing, and seeing for extended periods.
  • Frequent hand/wrist motions, bending, reaching, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and color vision.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varied indoor environments (refrigerated, wet, hot, cold) with machine/equipment noise.
  • Teamwork and independent work in a smoke-free, fast-paced facility.
