Job description

Position: Press Operator (Day Shift & Night Shift Available)
Location: Elk Grove Village
Shift: :45 AM - 6:15 PM OR 5:45 PM - 6:15 AM | 12-hour continental schedule (3 days one week, 4 days the next, off every other weekend)
Pay Rate: $28.98/hour + $2.00/hour shift differential

Summary Description

The Press Operator reports directly to the Department Manager and is responsible for supporting press operations, maintaining workflow and print quality, and safely operating printing equipment according to company procedures and standards.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assist Press Operators to maintain workflow and print quality on assigned press runs

  • Bring materials for press setups to press sites

  • Clean presses during job changes

  • Perform setup, operation, and feeding of cylinder-type printing presses to produce a variety of products

  • Operate printing press equipment according to company printing procedures and guidelines

  • Direct Press Helpers according to company printing procedures

  • Set up jobs with assistance and monitor print quality while the press is running

  • Maintain responsibility for quality and safe operating procedures during setup and production

  • Communicate job status and critical details with the opposite shift operator during shift changes

  • Check first-piece conformance to specifications

  • Perform daily and periodic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment

  • Maintain cleanliness of machines and adjacent work areas

  • Utilize satellite containers for hazardous waste handling

  • Follow equipment cleaning and sanitation procedures and complete sanitation checklists

  • Follow GMPs, PRPs, and production SOPs

  • Conduct and document all quality checks for intermediate product

  • Follow CCP monitoring procedures

  • Refer production difficulties to group leader or supervisor for analysis and correction

  • Report all food safety violations to management

  • Follow all safety rules

  • Participate in TOPPAN's Global Performance System (GPS) activities including 5Star, pillar teams, audits, and near misses

  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality

  • Perform other duties as assigned
