JOB SUMMARY Web Offset Press Operator is the lead operator and responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operate the press as well as provide direction to the press helper and roll tender (press crew) during the shift. Principal duties include following work order instructions to ensure proper press setup for each job as well as performing quality checks. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Press Set up - Examine job orders to determine quantities to be printed, stock specification, colors, or special printing instructions. Secure/ Hang printing plates to press. Web Press, set up folder, preset ink scanner. Startup press align webs, set ink to density, set registration, set cutoffs and folds.
  • Operation Monitoring -- Continuously watch and adjust ink and water balance, registration & cutoff and folding of product throughout press run.
  • Quality Control Analysis - Continually pull and inspect product during print run making sure the copy matched color proofs as well as registration, cutoff and folds.
  • Maintenance tasks - Maintain proper roller settings. Make sure all grease and oil levels are checked daily. Ensure all safety guards are in place and operating properly.
  • Set up or operate auxiliary equipment, such as sheeter, stackers. Follow safety procedures including wearing proper PPE as assigned. Maintain a clean, safe working environment by keeping skids neatly stacked, floors swept, and materials organized. Notify manager, supervisor, or Human Resources of safety hazards immediately.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in operating Web Press.
  • High level of attention to detail required. Must be able to visually observe colors and detect variations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with other team members.
  • Must be able to follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as assigned
  • Must be able to sit or stand for up to 8-12 hours daily. Must be able to lift or grasp up to 50lbs. Bend, twist, push, pull, and lift products up to 50lbs during shift. Be able to kneel on hard surfaces to splice web, occasionally for 10 min periods. Move products 50lbs or less unassisted products more than 50lbs assisted. Be able to ascend and descend from vertical ladders or stairs from ground floor to platforms several times per shift.
