JOB SUMMARY:
  • The Digital Copy Press Operator / Copy Center Specialist operates high-speed digital print machines and bindery equipment with limited to no direction from others. Picks up jobs at drop-off points or instructs others on the team to do so. Coordinates workflow with others on the printing team. Operates networked computers. Prioritize jobs by the deadline and ensure job tickets and invoicing are complete and accurate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • A Digital Copy Press Operator / Copy Center Specialist sets up digital print jobs through the Sign Source portal by using filtering processes.
  • Organizes, records, and ships printed material.
  • Efficiently performs a variety of functions and processes for digital printing. This includes manipulating scanned images and hand-input data using computer filing systems to produce single-and multiple-page documents.
  • Operates finishing equipment needed for signs, booklets, and advertising materials, including drilling presses, shrink-wrapping equipment, comb binders, etc.
  • Picks up and delivers jobs as per customer requests. Discusses expected production outcomes and communicates project timelines to customers. Provides price quotes on jobs as requested. Addresses any quality or timeliness problems with customers. Meets weekly production deadlines on all regularly scheduled printing projects. Coordinates project workflow with other machine operators.
  • Follow the written directions on each job ticket to set up and begin production. Accurately completes job tickets for each assigned job, ensuring materials used and time spent are accurately listed. Keeps records of personal accomplishments and completed assignments, and reports progress to supervisor.
  • Make sure copy machine supplies are met in each department. Administers basic repair of jamming and image quality issues and handles common problems with maintenance parts on all copy machines. Contacts outside copy vendors when machines need service and communicates repair timelines to customers.
  • The Digital Copy Press Operator / Copy Center Specialist performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of work-related experience is a plus, but willing to train the right person. We will hire on personal ability, dedication, and attitude over experience in the related field.
  • Great attitude and ability to adapt/learn.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Prior training on large-scale copy machines, computer operation, and press/bindery equipment operation is a plus.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS
  • The job consists of prolonged standing and being on your feet.
  • Work is done in a print shop environment with loud noises, continuous use of moving equipment, and repeated lifting, bending, and moving.
