Company Overview
Ameritex Machine and Fabrication is a high mix low volume sheet metal and structural fabrication facility that uses a variety of equipment such as CNC Fiber Lasers, CNC punch presses, CNC press brakes, and tube lasers to support over 19 production and assembly lines. The company serves customers in energy, oil and gas, automotive, electric vehicle, and aerospace. We operate out of a state of the art 100,000 sqft facility in Conroe, Texas.
Position Summary
We are looking for a Punch Press Machine Operator to join our innovative, fast-growing company. We are looking for operators to work on AMADA, TANAKA, KOIKE, or other top machines. While we are willing to train the candidates on new machines, they must be familiar with the machining process or have prior experience in working with one of these machines.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Production
Set up, program, and operate punch press machines to punch, form, and fabricate sheet metal components.
Select appropriate tooling and dies based on work orders and part specifications.
Load and unload materials safely, using proper handling techniques and lifting equipment when necessary.
Verify materials, sheet thickness, and job specifications before starting production runs.
Continuously monitor machine performance, making adjustments to speed, pressure, and alignment as needed to maintain part accuracy.
Optimize punching patterns to minimize waste and maximize material utilization.
Quality Assurance
Inspect parts using measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and templates to ensure they meet required specifications.
Identify and address defects or nonconformities before parts move to the next stage of production.
Record production data accurately for traceability and continuous improvement efforts.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform routine preventive maintenance, including cleaning machines, lubricating moving parts, and checking tooling condition.
Troubleshoot minor machine or tooling issues and escalate complex problems to maintenance or supervisors.
Report equipment malfunctions immediately to minimize downtime.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety protocols and always wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to support safe and efficient operations.
Comply with Ameritexs policies and applicable standards, including ISO, OSHA, and ITAR regulations.
Teamwork & Communication
Work collaboratively with production team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding production concerns, tooling needs, or material shortages.
Provide input for process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing quality and efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Minimum 1 year of experience operating CNC punch press machinery or similar sheet metal fabrication equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and templates.
Knowledge of basic fabrication techniques and sheet metal properties.
Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
Preferred:
Experience with Amada punch press machines or similar CNC equipment.
Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems for production tracking.
Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
Basic troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods during the shift.
Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Comfortable working in a production environment with noise, heat, and physical activity.
