Job Title: Coating Specialist

Division: Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI)

Reports To: Production Supervisor


PURPOSE OF POSITION

To prepare the surface of pulleys for application of vulcanization lagging, keep the lagging area flowing and well organized, and process pulleys, post vulcanizing, to prepare for the next operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.


More specifically, the employee owner will:

  • Operate and maintain grit blaster
  • Fill blaster with grit as needed
  • Thoroughly clean pulleys, prior to adhesive application
  • Apply (roll) adhesive and primer to pulleys after they have been blasted
  • Perform required preventative maintenance and keep the work area clean
  • Assist with loading and unloading extruders, autoclaves, and autoclave carts
  • Paint pulley ends, once unloaded onto racks, as needed
  • Assist with hand trimming
  • Sharpen hot knives
  • Perform all activities in a manner that protects and promotes the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, the community and the environment
  • Know and observe all plant safety rules applicable to your work
  • Report all unsafe practices and conditions to your supervisor at the first opportunity
  • Strive to achieve the highest possible product quality, from receipt of an order

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and understand work orders and work center dispatch.

  • High school diploma or a general education degree (GED); or
