Job Title: Machining Technician

Division: Precision Pulley and Idler (PPI)

Location: Pella, IA - On-site

Shift: 1st shift

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Status: Full Time

Reports To: Supervisor


PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Machining Technician is responsible for machining shafts and pulleys to the proper dimensions and tolerances as specified by the print.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

The individual’s tasks and responsibilities may include:

  • Setting up and operating machines, including but not limited to lathes, mills, saws and various hand-held tools.
  • Making necessary adjustments to machinery to improve product quality or production efficiency.
  • Utilizing and understanding various paperwork, including but not limited to schedules, prints, & tech standards.
  • Ensuring all parts and components are accurate according to specifications.
  • Demonstrating a willingness to receive direction from management and supervisor(s).
  • Performing general housekeeping and maintenance on equipment and work area.
  • Performing extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments within the work area.
  • Maintaining regular and reliable attendance, arriving on time, and prepared for work.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Proficient use of math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to accurately utilize measuring devices including but not limited to a tape measure, micrometer, caliper, and dial indicator.

  • Ability to work independently or as a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written.
  • Demonstrate ability to read and understand blueprints and/or order specifications.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems using training, experience, and reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency.

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS

  • High school diploma or a general education degree (GED); or
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.


TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES

  • Forklift license (Training & Certification provided by PPI)
  • Continually participate in additional training related to the job.
