A Day in the Life at MTE
Each shift, you serve as a critical guardian of product quality for hydraulic DC/AC power units, gear pumps and motors, generators, and flow dividers trusted by OEMs worldwide. You’ll begin with first-article checks, move through in-process verifications, and close out with final audits—ensuring every component meets print before it moves on.
How You’ll Contribute
- Execute first-piece, in-process, final, and receiving inspections on machined components.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine inspection criteria.
- Measure features using precision tools: calipers, dial micrometers, dial indicators, height gages, plug gages, and thread gages.
- Confirm compliance to engineering drawings, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Record results clearly and maintain accurate, traceable quality documentation.
- Flag nonconformances and collaborate with the Quality Manager on corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement to elevate quality across the shop.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2–5 years in quality inspection or manufacturing.
- Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints (required).
- Experience with dial micrometers and dial indicators (preferred).
- Hands-on proficiency with precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, plug gages, and thread gages.
- CMM exposure is a plus; we’re prepared to train the right person.
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong organization, and clear communication.
- Ability to work independently while juggling multiple priorities.
- Capability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Visual acuity for detailed inspection work: close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
