Job description

This employee is responsible for transferring material from one container to another using appropriate equipment and processes. Pre-Weighers are required to comply with departmental safety requirements, contribute to the quality improvement process and interface and communicate within the department.
Essential Job Functions
  • Employee is required to check the accuracy of scales being used with the registered weight provided on a daily basis, and record this information in the "daily Scale Calibration Log" located in the batching office. If a problem arises notify the batching manager immediately.
  • Pre-weighers are to make sure batches are pre weighed at least one day prior to the scheduled compounding date. The needed information can be found on the weekly batching schedule.
  • The employee is to locate batch cards to be pre weighed in the file identified "To Pre Weigh." If a batch to be pre weighed is not in the proper file, the employee is to notify the batching manager immediately.
  • The pre-weigher is to confirm all information on the chemical to be weighed is identical to that of the "trial kit" and the batch card. The employee is to check the customer material codes, make sure the expiration date is not exceeded, Rt. Numbers are correct, and locations for pulling are marked.
  • The employee is to make sure they follow all HMIS guidelines before weighing any chemicals.
  • Pre weighers are responsible for cleaning all shipping container lids prior to use
  • Pre weighers are responsible to affix labels to all weighed chemicals with the identification mat code number, Rt. Number, amount of chemicals (weight), and identify how may containers per chemical
  • The employee is responsible for posting each chemical individually on the weight calculation worksheet and places their initials beside it. If there is a problem with any information they are to notify the batching planner/inventory specialist. They must utilize the Rt. Number using FIFO system.
  • The employee is responsible for weighing all chemicals, and having the QC witness and sign all active chemicals, noted with an "*".
  • After the paperwork is complete and signed off, the employee will bring it to the Pre-weigh Lead for job issues.
  • The employee will wrap all skids pre-weighed and locate them in the pre-weigh area until batch is to be made.

Requirements
  • The employee must have the ability to comprehend and carry out reasonable instructions from the Batching Manager/Supervisor pertaining mainly, but not limited to training issues. When performing this job, the worker summarizes and/or condenses information. Employees are required to possess this knowledge and/or skill at the time of hiring.
  • Housekeeping in the pre-weigh area daily.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Employee is required to pass a drug test and/or alcohol test.
