Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Chemical Unloader at our Temple, TX manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for unloading, maintaining, and mixing chemicals used in the pouring operation using the proper equipment provided in an efficient, safe, and productive manner
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Chemical Unloader you will be expected to maintain constant communications with the Pouring Manager, Pouring Supervisor, Technical Director and the pouring line employees. Position must operate a forklift and obtain a Carpenter Company Forklift Certification. Operates safety sensitive equipment that transports chemicals from transportation vehicle to storage area inside the plant Works in a normal plant environment with exposure to chemical fumes and temperature changes. Major challenges involve the operation of safety sensitive equipment.
Must be able to read a tape measure. Basic reading, writing, and math skills are required. Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, holidays, weekend, and call-in with little notice. Must have entry level computer knowledge. Must obtain a Carpenter Company Forklift Certification. Must take and pass a pulmonary test on an annual basis. Must be able to use basic hand tools.

  1. Must have the ability to read Certificates of Analysis.
  2. Opens and closes all tank farms and BA-5 valves daily.
  3. Mixes chemicals as required by a daily production pouring schedule.
  4. Opens and fills all chemical tanks as required by a daily pouring schedule.
  5. Unloads railcars and tank trucks as required.
  6. Monitors and observes the dam during pouring start-ups.
  7. Relieves the cut-off saw operator during pouring runs.
  8. Cleans strainers and changes filters on a regularly scheduled basis..
  9. Performs job functions in a safe and efficient manner and troubleshooting problems during the pouring run.
  10. Must collect all lot number tickets on all drum chemicals used for input into the SAP system.
  11. Recharges forklift batteries and/or propane tanks as instructed.
  12. Operates a forklift per all applicable laws and regulations in a safe manner.
  13. Assists with monthly inventory, as necessary.
  14. Picks up trash and discarded material as required.
