Job description

Position Overview:
The Pre-Construction Manager supports the Construction and Capital Planning functions through coordination, evaluation, and planning of new builds, renovations, and capital upgrades across Christensen Farms' facilities. This role focuses on project scoping, feasibility, constructability, budgeting, preliminary scheduling, and light drafting. While this position does not manage people, it plays a key role in driving process discipline and cross-functional alignment throughout the pre-construction phase. The individual will also support project documentation, image-based scoping, and maintain digital site drawing records for concept development and decision-making.

What You Will Do:
  • Evaluate site conditions and project feasibility through site visits, measurements, and photographic documentation.
  • Develop and maintain preliminary budgets, scopes, and BOM estimates using Excel and proposal documentation.
  • Complete and maintain light construction drawings using digital drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, REVIT or similar).
  • Collaborate with Construction and Asset teams to review design proposals for constructability and reliability alignment.
  • Coordinate and participate in the collection of scoping imagery and layout visuals to support stakeholder reviews.
  • Manage and maintain pre-construction trackers for proposed work, estimated costs, and scheduling readiness.
  • Assist in reviewing vendor proposals, technical specifications, and bid packages for alignment with internal standards.
  • Support development and updates of design standards, site templates, and procedural improvements during planning phase.

What You Offer Us:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction planning, estimating, or project development roles.
  • Familiarity with agricultural, utility, or facility-based infrastructure is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and basic scheduling tools (MS Project or Smartsheet).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or digital drafting tools to produce conceptual layouts and modifications.
  • Preferred: CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), PMP (Project Management Professional), or Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, technical memos, and images.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, field-integrated environment.
  • Motor Vehicle Requirements: Because this position may require operating a company vehicle, or mileage reimbursement, any offer for this position is contingent upon the review of your motor vehicle record (MVR). The MVR will be reviewed to determine insurability based on CF's insurance carrier and company policy.
