Westover Christian Academy (Danville, VA) Head of School
THE BIG PICTURE
Westover Baptist Church (westoverministries.org) (westoverchristian.org) is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor of Education to lead the ministry of Westover Christian Academy as Head of School. This position will provide spiritual, academic, and organizational leadership to ensure the fulfillment of the Academy's mission to partner with families and churches in developing Christ-centered, academically prepared students who will impact their world for the glory of God.
This role uniquely combines pastoral leadership and educational administration.
The Head of School serves as the shepherd over the school ministry and as an administrator guiding a thriving PreK-12 Christian school ministry.
Requirements
Qualifications
• Meet the biblical qualifications of a pastor/elder (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1; 1 Peter 5).
• A man who is humble, teachable, and deeply committed to God's Word.
• Holds a high view of God, the sufficiency of Scripture, the local church and the sovereign grace of God.
• In full agreement with the statement of faith and philosophy of ministry of Westover Baptist Church.
• Demonstrates a deep passion for Christian education and a commitment to discipleship.
• Proven ability in leadership, administration, teaching, and pastoral care.
• Holds a master's degree or higher, preferably in education, administration, or theology.
• Experienced in managing and developing faculty and staff.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering unity and community.
• Willing and able to acquire and maintain ACSI administrative certification
• Serves under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and in cooperation with the church elders.
Core Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration
• Provide visionary and strategic leadership for all aspects of the Academy's operation.
• Supervise and evaluate all faculty, staff, and department heads.
• Provide leadership and oversight for the school's K-12 student discipline process.
• Oversee key areas including budgeting, admissions, communications, and facilities.
• Ensure operational excellence, fiscal responsibility, and compliance with all accrediting bodies.
• Recruit and retain highly qualified Christian educators who model Christ-like character.
• Cultivate a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability across the school.
Academic Oversight
• Maintain high academic and spiritual standards across all grade levels.
• Lead in curriculum development, ensuring integration of biblical truth in all subjects.
• Support innovation in teaching, technology, and student engagement.
• Promote faculty development through professional growth and spiritual enrichment.
Spiritual Leadership
• Provide pastoral care and spiritual oversight for students, families, and staff.
• Lead or coordinate faculty devotions, chapels, and spiritual emphasis events.
• Oversee Bible curriculum and ensure sound doctrine and discipleship throughout the school.
• Encourage a Christ-centered culture marked by prayer, worship, service, and grace.
• Serve as a visible and faithful example of Christian leadership and integrity.
Development & Community Relations
• Strengthen relationships with parents, donors, alumni, and supporting churches.
• Lead efforts in fundraising, donor cultivation, and long-term sustainability.
• Promote the Academy in the community through outreach and partnerships.
• Encourage family involvement, transparency, and effective communication.
• Develop and maintain a positive school culture where families feel valued and connected.
Church Responsibilities
• Shepherd the ministry of Westover Christian Academy in partnership with the elders of Westover Baptist Church.
• Serve alongside fellow elders in leading the church and school ministry in unity, humility and doctrinal fidelity.
• Represent the school in church meetings, worship services, and community functions and represent the church in
school events, meetings and community functions.
• Work closely with the Lead Pastor to pursue and achieve shared ministry goals and direction.
• Support the overall teaching, shepherding and leadership ministry of the church as gifted.
