The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are seeking a Business Development Manager - Construction to join our Special Projects Group in Boise, ID. This role serves as the company's first leader in the Boise market, responsible for establishing a sustainable local presence by developing client relationships, generating work, and delivering successful projects. The position blends business development, project execution, and market leadership to drive revenue growth, strengthen the company's regional brand, and build a scalable operation. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute a Boise market entry strategy, including identifying target clients, verticals, and growth opportunities.

  • Build and maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, engineers, and consultants to generate and close new work.

  • Lead proposal development, conceptual estimating, presentations, and pipeline management from opportunity identification through contract award.

  • Manage early-stage projects through completion by defining scope, identifying risks, coordinating internal teams, and maintaining accountability for financial, schedule, and client outcomes.

  • Establish the company's local brand presence, support market scaling decisions, and develop processes and best practices for long-term growth in the region.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • 8-12+ years of experience in mechanical construction or service

  • Background may include:
    • Project Management
    • Account Executive Sales or Business Development
    • Service Manager
  • Proven success in developing and closing work
  • Strong understanding of:
    • HVAC/mechanical systems
    • Construction contracts and delivery methods
    • Conceptual estimating
  • Established local relationships in the Boise market strongly preferred

The pay range for this position is $118,170 - $189,090 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
