Reports To: General Manager

The Business Development Manager is the primary communication link between Foresight Automation, our customers, and all internal teams. This role is responsible for building strong relationships, driving sales growth, developing technical proposals, and ensuring that customer expectations are communicated clearly across, Engineering, Project Management, Operations, and the Panel Shop. The Account Manager also plays a key role in supporting and collaborating with Purvis sales staff and Purvis service companies.

Job Duties:

Customer Relationship Leadership:

  • Serve as the main customer contact for assigned accounts throughout the full lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships to support customer retention and growth.
  • Conduct proactive customer check-ins to maintain alignment on needs and expectations.
  • Create strong relationships with Purvis sales staff and other Purvis service companies to support collaboration, information flow, and joint customer success.

Sales Development & Opportunity Management:

  • Create new business opportunities and drive revenue growth using consultative sales strategies.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Coordinate for early-stage lead qualification and account alignment.
  • Create and assist Purvis sales staff with controls and custom machine projects, providing solution guidance and commercial support.
  • Strengthen relationships with Purvis sales teams and service companies to improve joint efforts and visibility.
  • Represent Foresight at trade shows, conferences, customer meetings, and networking events.

Technical & Strategic Support:

  • Provide consultative guidance on automation solutions, custom machinery, and control systems.
  • Write technical proposals with clear deliverables for each project.
  • Develop control narratives utilizing customer input to ensure functional clarity.
  • Develop motor lists and I/O lists as part of early-stage scoping for handoff to Engineering and Project Management.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure solutions meet technical and commercial requirements.
  • Support in validating BOMs, scopes, and deliverables before customer approval.

Crossโ€‘Functional Communication & Coordination:

  • Ensure clear and accurate communication between customers and internal teams.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Operations to confirm scope, requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Communicate scope changes, risks, and customer expectations promptly.
  • Ensure that all projectโ€‘related information is accurate and properly routed through the correct internal channels.

Documentation & CRM Management:

  • Maintain accurate CRM entries, including opportunities, forecasts, communication logs, and account notes.
  • Ensure proper documentation of approvals, scope changes, and account updates.
  • Support Document Control in preparing and organizing customer-facing deliverables.

Performance & Revenue Accountability:

  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets and key performance metrics.
  • Provide accurate forecasting and support profitability reviews.
  • Participate in strategic planning and account review meetings.
Job Requirements:

Experience & Skills

  • Strong understanding of automation systems, PLCs, VFDs, and industrial / customized equipment (preferred).
  • Motivated self-starter, comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with CRM and sales documentation tools.
  • Problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and willingness to travel
