 Job Summary


The Clinic Manager is responsible for the daily operational, clinical, administrative, and patient service functions of one or more ambulatory clinic locations. This role ensures high-quality patientcare, efficient clinic operations, and compliance with DUHS policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. The Clinic Manager oversees clinic staff, coordinates resources, supports physician and advanced practice provider teams, and drives performance improvement initiatives. This position reports to the Practice Administrator, and up to the Ambulatory Operations Director to align clinic performance with service line and organizational goals. This role actively participates in planning, resource allocation, and change management efforts within the assigned clinic.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee daily clinic operations, including patient flow, appointment scheduling, access metrics, and service recovery; ensure operational readiness and a patient-centered experience.
  • Supervise and coordinate clinic staff, including scheduling, assignment of duties, performance evaluation, and training. 
  • Monitor and manage operational metrics (volumes, productivity, access, and wait times) to ensure service excellence and efficiency.
  • Partner with nursing and/or clinical leads to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and infection control requirements.
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of clinic budgets, including labor and supply costs; identify cost-containment opportunities.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives and standard work processes to improve patient outcomes and operational performance.
  • Coordinate operational support for physician and APP teams, ensuring efficient clinic workflows and resource availability.
  • Support onboarding, orientation, and training for new administrative staff, and ensure ongoing development for existing team members.
  • Serve as primary administrative contact for clinic-based concerns, escalating issues as appropriate to Practice Administrator or Ambulatory Operations Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of healthcare operations, scheduling systems, and regulatory requirements. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with staff, providers, and patients. Financial acumen, including budget preparation and expense monitoring. Proficiency with electronic health records and operational reporting tools.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, business, or related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of related administrative or clinic management experience required.
  • Experience in ambulatory or outpatient clinic operations preferred.
