Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer โ€“ Power Transformers

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in the design and analysis of large power transformers. The successful candidate will lead electrical design activities, perform engineering calculations, participate in customer design reviews, and provide technical support to U.S. utilities and consulting firms.

Key Responsibilities

โ€ข Lead the electrical design and technical review of Large Power Transformers.

โ€ข Perform transformer design calculations, including impedance, losses, short-circuit forces, thermal performance, dielectric design, insulation coordination, and cooling system analysis.

โ€ข Utilize transformer design and analytical software to develop and optimize transformer designs.

โ€ข Participate in Design Review Meetings (DRMs) with customers, consultants, and utilities, providing technical presentations and engineering support.

โ€ข Review customer specifications and ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and customer requirements.

โ€ข Support factory acceptance tests (FATs), root cause analysis (RCA), engineering changes, and field technical investigations.

โ€ข Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.

Qualifications

โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).

โ€ข Minimum 10 years of experience in power transformer electrical design.

โ€ข Strong knowledge of transformer design principles, electrical calculations, and analytical software.

โ€ข Experience conducting design reviews and technical discussions with U.S. utilities, consulting engineers, and EPC customers.

โ€ข Thorough understanding of IEEE C57, ANSI, and IEC standards.

โ€ข Excellent analytical, communication, and customer-facing skills.

โ€ข Large Power Transformer Experience over 300MVA, oil-based

Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข Experience with transformer design software (e.g., ACADEM, TRES, ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL, MATLAB, or equivalent).

โ€ข Knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes, testing, diagnostics, and failure analysis.

โ€ข Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
