Job Title: Power BI Developer

Job Type: Contract (Thru 6/30/27)

Overview

We are seeking an experiencedPower BI Developer / Business Intelligence Analystto support a large-scale modernization effort impacting financial planning, analysis, and reporting capabilities. This role focuses on analyzing legacy reporting assets, improving data models, and delivering high-qualityPower BI dashboards and paginated reportsto business stakeholders.

Project Context

A multi-year financial systems transformation is underway, requiring remediation and redesign of interfaces, reporting programs, databases, and automated processes. The selected consultant will help transition legacy reporting and query assets (includingWebFOCUS/Mainframe FOCUS) into modern reporting and data solutions, aligned to updated business processes and chart of accounts structures.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the current data environment and data structures to identify required transformations prior to dashboard/report development.
  • Partner with leadership to develop an enterprise reporting roadmap.
  • Review existing reports with business users and recommend improvements based on evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with developers and end users toautomate data transformationand reduce dependency on Excel-based pivot analysis.
  • Read and documentWebFOCUS/Mainframe FOCUSqueries and convert them intoT-SQL.
  • Work with database administrators to design and implementdatabase views and stored proceduresto support reporting needs.
  • Build and maintainPower BI dataflowsand reusable datasets.
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to improve reporting data models.
  • Administer adedicated Power BI workspace(security, publishing, organization, and governance support).
  • Train business users (including finance/comptroller-aligned teams) on how to use and interpret Power BI reporting outputs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology- or finance-related fieldor equivalent experience(year-for-year substitution acceptable).
  • 3+ yearsof Business Intelligence experience.
  • 2+ yearsbuilding dashboards and reports inMicrosoft Power BI.
  • Experience withIBM DB2databases.
  • StrongSQLskills (including complex queries and performance-aware design).
Required Skills (KSAs)
  • Building dashboards and interactive reports usingPower BI.
  • DevelopingPower BI Paginated Reports.
  • Data governance best practices (security, access, stewardship, definitions, and quality).
  • Knowledge of data management concepts:data warehousing, ODS, data lakes, master data management.
  • Experience reporting on financial datasets (e.g.,general ledger, purchasing, revenue).
  • Understanding of dimensional modeling concepts:OLAP, star/snowflake schema.
  • Familiarity with Power BI integrations across Microsoft tools (e.g.,Power Automate, Power Apps, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Ability to translate business questions into clear visuals, metrics, and actionable insights.
  • Experience implementing reporting solutions that combinemultiple data sources.
  • Knowledge ofmainframe flat files.
  • Familiarity with theSCRUMframework.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience withOracle Data Warehouseenvironments.
