Job description

Marlin Steel Wire Products is looking for a dependable Sandblast Operator to join our powder coating team. In this hands-on role, you will clean and prep metal parts for coating, help keep jobs moving through production, and make sure parts are ready for a quality finish. Manufacturing experience is helpful, and powder coating or finishing experience is a big plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run sandblasting equipment to clean and prep metal parts for powder coating.
  • Check parts before and after blasting to make sure they are clean and ready for coating.
  • Load, unload, and move parts safely through the blasting and finishing process.
  • Adjust machine settings as needed to get the right surface prep for a strong powder coat finish.
  • Mask or protect areas that should not be coated.
  • Watch for rust, scale, dirt, damage, or other issues that could affect finish quality.
  • Help keep parts moving to the powder coating line and work with the team to stay on schedule.
  • Support powder coating operations as needed, including helping with part handling and finish prep.
  • Keep blasting equipment, hoses, nozzles, and your work area clean and in good working order.
  • Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE, including respirator, eye, ear, hand, and foot protection.
  • Complete basic production or inspection paperwork accurately.
  • Do your part to keep the area safe, organized, and running smoothly.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, or similar hands-on work experience.
  • Experience in sandblasting, powder coating, metal finishing, or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Powder coating line experience is strongly preferred.
  • Able to follow directions, safety rules, and quality standards.
  • Good attention to detail and able to spot surface or finish problems.
  • Comfortable working around production equipment and using basic tools.
  • Able to work at a steady pace and keep up with production needs.
  • Reliable, safety-minded, and able to work well with others.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 25โ€“50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift
  • Ability to handle and move metal parts safely during the blasting and coating preparation process
  • Required use of respirator, eye, ear, hand, and foot protection while on the production floor

Work Environment:

This job works in a powder coating production area and includes exposure to blasting media, metal dust, noise, moving equipment, and other shop conditions. You must wear required PPE and follow safety rules at all times to help keep yourself and the team safe.
