the 12-hour: Employment Type: Full time (6:00 pm - 6:00 am, rotating or swing shift, 2 days working, 2 days off, 3 days working, following week: 2 days off, 2 days working, 3 days off, repeat)

the 8 hour: 3rd shift and is 10pm to 630 am

Overall Mission / Responsibility

The Powder Coating Machine Operator is responsible for providing high-quality service, supporting production, and ensuring production operations run smoothly and safely.


Key Responsibilities / TasksEquipment Set-up and Operation
 

Set up equipment using computer-controlled equipment 

Record operational data accurately on specified forms 

Clean and disassemble equipment 

Prepare tooling for changeovers and perform machine changeovers 

Obtain and run samples to test batch quality and cleanliness 

Conduct cabin powder collection to reduce waste 

Relieve co-workers for breaks 

Maintain cleanliness of workstation and meet 7S requirements 

Follow Lean Manufacturing principles 

Responsible for operation of extruders, mill, sieve 

Package and label finished goods in designated carton boxes 

Stack finished goods on appropriate skids 

Organize carton boxes effectively and change them in a timely manner 

Document all packaging on specified forms 

Quality Practices 

Spray test panels, hand screen, and perform and document a number of in process quality checks 

Continually monitor production runs to detect defects or deviations from standards 

Conduct quality checks as required 

Other / additional responsibilities 

Participate in department meetings 

Interact with co-workers, peers and supervisor in a constructive, productive and cooperative manner to meet production needs 

Regular, predictable, on-site attendance is an essential function of the job 

Drive Full Responsibility and Advice Process throughout the Organization 

Follow and Live Liberating Organism (LO) strategies and principles

Must be able to work in Drylac and/or Metallic as needed or as assigned

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.

  • Perform general cleaning and housekeeping in the lab area.

  • Follow all application safety guidelines and protocols at all times.


Qualifications

Working conditions 

Standing for periods of up to 8 hours 

Repetitive lifting of up to 55lbs 

Exposure to dust, powder coating paint, and noise 

Wearing of a PPE (personal protective equipment) required for up to 9 hours (includes face mask, eye protection, ear plugs)

Education

  • High school or equivalent 

Skills & Competencies

Powder coating experience preferred 

An aptitude for working with factory machinery 

Extruder, Mill and mixing operating experience preferred 

Basic knowledge of production processes 

Basic computer controlled machinery experience preferred 

Basic understanding of maintenance, safety and quality principle an asset 

Ability to operate a forklift – an asset but not required 

Soft Skills: Must be a team player, dependable, and have initiative 

Effective communication skills in English (read, write, and speak).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing setting.
