Job description

SUMMARY: The Automation Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of automated systems within the poultry processing plant. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing various automation systems, including PLCs, HMI interfaces, and SCADA systems. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in industrial automation and possess a strong understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of the poultry processing industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated systems and equipment, including PLCs, HMI systems, and SCADA systems.
  • Implement and support automation projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians and operators on automation best practices.
  • Maintain documentation related to system configurations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards within the plant.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in automation technology to recommend improvements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Required
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation and control systems within an industrial environment, preferably in the food processing or poultry industry.
    • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Preferred
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience.
