Willmar Poultry Farms is seeking a full-timeย Farms Supervisor.ย An affiliate of Life-Science Innovations, Willmar Poultry Farms is a commercial grow out company who grows turkeys for various customers. The Farms Supervisor oversees the overall management of turkey farms including employees, flock well-being, barn conditions and bio-security while ensuring the compliance of company policies and procedures, along with industry regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Operations:

  • Overseeing flock welfare; supervising major bird activities, such as vaccinations, flock load outs and new flock arrivals.
  • Inspects farms on a weekly basis
  • Responds to alarm calls for barns 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in the absence of the Farm Manager

Management:

  • Hires, manages, trains, motivate, engages, and disciplines employees on farms with the objective of building and maintaining a high performing unit to meet or exceed production goals
  • Trains employees on daily operations, machinery and equipment, and safety
  • Provides direction, technical guidance and support to employees

Administrative and Compliance:

  • Daily administrative and record keeping tasks related to overall management
  • Enforces company policies, procedures related to biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety; and, all regulatory requirements

Job Specifications:
Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of the turkey industry and government regulations preferred
  • Knowledge of general repair work and maintenance. Solid understanding of basic business practices

Skills:

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Active listening
  • Mechanical, use of hand tools
  • Leadership and teambuilding

Abilities:

  • Able to be self-sufficient and to organize and prioritize work
  • Able to lead and manage others while building a productive and cohesive team

Experience:

  • Experience in animal husbandry and welfare required
  • Prior experience leading and managing employees preferred

Education/Credentials:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Minnesota Driver's License and motor vehicle record must meet company standards

Schedule:

  • General working hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule, with frequent nights and weekends.
