American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby (Postpartum) position at a Birmingham, AL hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of postpartum experience and AHA-issued BLS and NRP certifications.
Job Details
• Work setting is a 27-bed Mother-Baby (postpartum) unit within a comprehensive hospital facility,
• Patient population consists of postpartum couplets (mother and newborn),
• Patient ratio is 1:3-4 couplets,
• Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Medela breast pumps, and Medela Breastmilk Warmers,
• EMR is currently Cerner, transitioning to Epic on or after 8/1/2026,
• Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM,
• 13-week contract,
• Schedule requires every other Friday and Saturday,
• 36 hours per week,
Job Requirements
• Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand; no hits on license accepted,
• Current AHA-issued certifications required: BLS and NRP (American Red Cross certifications are not accepted),
• Minimum of 2 years of recent postpartum RN experience required,
• Proficiency in postpartum maternal and newborn assessments, PPH management, HTN management, and OB Sepsis management,
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,
• SSN and DOB required for consideration,
Additional Information
• Primary responsibilities include postpartum couplet care for mothers and newborns,
• Preferred experience in postpartum couplet care (mother and newborn together),
• The facility holds Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission and includes a Women's Medical Center with a Level III NICU on campus,
• Required scrub color is navy; fleece and plain t-shirts are not acceptable attire,
• Natural nails are required; no artificial nails permitted,
