Job Description:

  • Supports the surgeon and/or qualified first assistant during procedures by performing tasks such as sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, holding retractors, and manipulating the endoscopic camera.
  • Monitors conditions in the operating room, assesses needs of the patient and surgical team, and obtains additional instruments, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
  • Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment, providing orientation, training, and education to new personnel.
  • Promotes a safe environment, takes appropriate action in emergency situations, and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies. Other duties as assigned.
  • Gathers, checks, and opens supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures, ensuring all items are functional and readily available.
