Job Title: PostgreSQL Developer 
Job Location: Phoenix - Arizona 
Job Type: Contract 

Job Description:  

  • Leads and mentors a team of PostgreSQL developers providing technical guidance and best practices 

  • Designs and implements efficient data models for the Mid Office application ensuring scalability and performance 

  • Develops and implements strategies for performance tuning including query optimization and index management 

  • Creates and maintains data retention and purging policies balancing regulatory requirements with system performance 

  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to align database design with application requirements and business needs 

  • Implements and manages database security measures ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry standards 

  • Develops and maintains documentation for database structures procedures and best practices 

  • Monitors database performance and proactively addresses potential issues 

  • Participates in code reviews and provides constructive feedback to team members 

  • Stays current with the latest PostgreSQL features and industry trends recommending improvements to our database infrastructure 

What we are Looking For 

  • 7 years of experience in database administration and development with at least 3 years focused on PostgreSQL 

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring database development teams 

  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning query optimization and indexing strategies 

  • Experience with data modeling and database design in complex high transaction environments 

  • Familiarity with travel industry data structures and processes is a plus 

  • Proficiency in SQL PL pgSQL and experience with database migration tools 

  • Knowledge of data retention strategies and compliance requirements in the travel industry 

  • Experience with database monitoring tools and performance analysis 

  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment 

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to explain complex database concepts to nontechnical stakeholders 

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices 

  • Experience with cloud based database services particularly AWS RDS for PostgreSQL is a plus
