Location: St. Louis, MO (Onsite)
Type: Contract Role
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and support enterprise-level PostgreSQL environments. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery while also supporting developers with schema design and query optimization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, queries, and indexing.
  • Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Ensure high availability through replication, clustering, and failover solutions.
  • Manage database security, access control, and compliance requirements.
  • Support developers with query tuning, schema design, and stored procedures.
  • Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (Shell, Python, etc.).
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7-10+ years of DBA experience with at least 5+ years in PostgreSQL administration.
  • Strong expertise in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with backup/recovery tools and HA/DR solutions.
  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted PostgreSQL platforms (AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
  • Strong knowledge of Linux administration and scripting.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of other databases: Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB.
  • Exposure to DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
