The Department of Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will support multiple federally funded projects focusing on coastal hazards and resilience. Topics include:
  • Assessment and mitigation of compound hydrologic hazards.
  • Effectiveness and resilience of nature-based solutions for coastal management.
  • Integrated modeling of shoreline adaptation decisions and estuarine hydrodynamics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be expected to work independently to develop and apply statistical, data-driven, and process-based models to coastal systems; analyze and visualize model outputs; communicate with project partners and stakeholders; and disseminate research findings in peer-reviewed journals and at professional conferences
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in civil/environmental engineering or a related field. Desired qualifications include (i) a strong theoretical background in environmental fluid mechanics and coastal processes, (ii) experience developing coastal hydrodynamic and morphological models, (iii) proficiency in coding and high-performance computing systems, (iv) strong written and oral communication skills, (v) a demonstrated publication record, and (vi) experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
