Job description

Overview
The Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO) is a research, teaching and outreach unit within Tufts School of Engineering that advances K-College engineering education initiatives.
What You'll Do
This is a one-year limited term position with an end date of September 1, 2027.
The Learning Scientist role works independently, but in close consultation and in cooperation with CEEO director to implement educational initiatives that support the Center and other SOE departments. This role leads the design and implementation of research and evaluation of SOE educational initiatives. The Learning Scientist will design and teach courses in School of Engineering (Civil Engineering) and participate in research, contributing data to publications and presentations as co-author and providing research guidance to graduate students or postdoctoral scholars.
  • SOE Teaching - Teaching two courses. Typically, in first-year engineering and a specified department
  • SOE Support - Designs, executes and supports experiential learning and related SOE research and evaluation activities
  • CEEO Support - Support CEEO initiatives as needed which may involve service, outreach or teaching activities (courses, workshops, professional development) that advance the Center's mission
  • CEEO-based Research -Collaborates on current/future grants through participation in grant proposals, submissions, project management, data collection, data analysis, publication preparation and presentations.

What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
  • PHD in Engineering Education
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering
  • Teaching experience in engineering in higher education
  • Expertise in MATLAB

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing and leading research projects from federally funded agencies
  • Experience in evaluation and data collection
  • Expertise in Civil Engineering

Pay Range
Minimum $81,200.00, Midpoint $101,600.00, Maximum $120,900.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
