Job description

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst I to join our team! This position will provide upfront and ongoing credit risk assessment support for the cash flow lending portfolio. 
As part of this role you will: 

  • Master basic skills and developing complex skills required to complete the following tasks:
    • Complete accurate, unbiased credit analyses according to standards:
      • Spread and analyze financial data; and
      • Credit risk assessment and analysis for credit requests, renewals, and reviews.
    • Complete interim risk monitoring:
      • Spread and review of financial data;
      • Complete trend reports for borrowing base certificates;
      • Complete covenant monitoring; 
      • Report concerns to management and relationship managers;
      • Compile quarterly portfolio review reports for cash flow portfolio;
      • Assist with ongoing stress testing of cash flow portfolio
      • Perform enterprise valuation (EV) work for trouble credits.
    • Order and review third party field work, including field exams, inventory & equipment appraisals
    • Attend and participate in Specialty Lending Committee, Corporate Special Assets (as requested) and Executive Loan Committee (as requested).
    • Attend and participate in department and policy meetings as requested.

In order to be successful in this position, we require the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One (1) year of related commercial credit or related analytical experience. 

The following would be a plus: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business.
