Job Summary:

The Dispatcher will coordinate and communicate and coordinate and short-haul (drayage) freight movements between ports, warehouses, and distribution centers. This role requires expertise in logistics, real-time communication, route optimization, regulatory compliance, and strong coordination with port operations.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides load planning, driver scheduling/appointments, and dispatch duties for in house drivers, owner operator fleet and any sub-haulers.?
  • Coordinate routing of import and export bookings with ocean carriers?
  • Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies, communicate timely correspondence to customers and vendors.?
  • Collaborate and build relationships with customers, carriers, and agent representatives regarding ocean, import, and export products to strengthen service competitiveness.?
  • Support metrics quarterly while obtaining, or exceeding, individual metrics.?
  • Provides constant communication of service issues to the facility departments.?
  • Utilize TMS (Transportation Management System) system to address issues, dispatch drivers, and document interaction.?
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.?
  • Receive new orders from customers and scrutinize them for accuracy/necessary details.?
  • Accurately enter orders into Transportation Management System (TMS) while ensuring accurate rates for specific orders.?
  • Efficiently navigate Georgia Port Authorities Portal.?
  • Track and trace import availability and details of export bookings.?
  • Assist with keeping files and documentation up to date and compliant.?
  • Collect safety data.?
  • Ensure invoices are accurate and sent in a timely fashion.?
  • Track aging report for receivables.?
  • Serve as liaison between customers/vendors and management.?
  • Assisting management team on various administrative tasks. The list of roles and responsibilities may evolve over time.?

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills—clear, concise interaction with drivers, port staff, and clients.
  • Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and multitasking under pressure.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry regulations (DOT, FMCSA) and port operations.

Schedule:?

  • Day shift.
  • Monday to Friday.
  • Weekends as needed.?

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree in logistics or transportation is a plus).

2+ years of experience in freight or truck dispatching; port/drayage experience highly preferred.


Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working with dispatching equipment.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
