About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Drayage Dispatcher to join our growing transportation and logistics team. In this critical role, you will coordinate and optimize daily container movements between inland facilities and the Port of Oakland.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong communication and problem-solving skills, and is committed to ensuring efficient and on-time delivery of import and export containers.


Key Responsibilities

Dispatch Operations & Load Management

  • Assign, track, and monitor driver loads using transportation management systems such as Trinium
  • Coordinate routes to maximize efficiency and on-time performance
  • Communicate with drivers via phone, text, and system updates
  • Monitor daily and overnight operations to ensure all loads are completed accurately

Import & Export Coordination

  • Manage export schedules based on customer requirements and vessel receiving deadlines
  • Coordinate import container pickups according to terminal Last Free Day deadlines to avoid demurrage
  • Schedule appointments using eModal and terminal systems
  • Utilize import containers for export loading when operationally feasible
  • Ensure all containers are returned within allowable free time to avoid per diem charges

Port & Equipment Management

  • Maintain accurate container and equipment records across port and terminal systems
  • Process gate fees and related charges as required

Team Coordination

  • Work closely with drivers, subhaulers, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth load execution

Administrative Duties

  • Perform accurate data entry and reporting
  • Maintain and update port and terminal platforms
  • Complete additional duties as assigned to support logistics operations


Qualifications

  • Previous dispatch or logistics experience required (drayage experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and drayage operations is a plus
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and sense of urgency
