Cabinet Craftsmen

JOB SUMMARY:

To accurately fabricate, assemble (and repair) a variety of custom cabinets, parts, sub-assemblies and final assemblies to be installed in a varying variety of vehicle platforms (Vans, RV’s, coaches, trailers, etc.)

First shift- Monday - Friday

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Fabricate & Assemble wood, plastic, metal, or composite cabinet or furniture parts, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies with craftsmanship. Cabinets and furniture including but are not limited to: galleys, microwave cabinets, drawers, doors, refrigerator cabinets, beds, dinettes, overhead lockers, credenzas, valances and table tops. Includes preparation of raw cabinetry details for laminate installation (will train if needed).
  2. Correctly position and attach all necessary hardware and components for the proper function and operation of the cabinet of piece of furniture.
  3. Recognize obvious irregularities and defects in materials, surface finish, and workmanship.
  4. Deliver defect free assemblies to storage or staging areas, including, installation.
  5. May be required to repair cabinets or furniture damaged in installation.
  6. Follow detailed verbal or written assembly instructions.
  7. May be required to fabricate jigs and fixtures to aid in the assembly process.
  8. Individual may be directed to do other duties as assigned by Management and may be required to perform work in other job classifications at the same or lower levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duties listed above satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

  1. Ability to use a variety of hand tools that may include: table saws, drill press, screw drivers, wrenches, pneumatic staplers, hand operated and power pop rivet guns, power hand drills, screw guns and saws, metal cutting shears, files, and insulation strippers etc.
  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, engineering drawings, warning labels and procedure manuals.
  1. The individual must have the ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic math skills.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

1. Job requires the mandatory use of safety glasses with side shields. If prescription glasses are worn they must have Z87 lenses and frames, and side shields. If the prescription glasses are not Z87 approved, non-prescription safety glasses with side shield must be worn over the prescription glasses.

2. Jobs may require the mandatory use of hearing protection i.e. either approved foam or plastic ear plugs, or approved ear muffs. Both types of hearing protection must meet the requirements of ANSI S3.19 1974 or the most recent revision.

3. Other personal protective equipment that may be required include dust mask, cut resistant gloves, protective clothing, face shield, hard hat, and safety-toed shoes etc.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND SAFETY:

1. Job requires working indoors and occasionally outdoors in ambient temperature and humidity conditions.

2. The individual may be exposed to frequent, short duration noise levels exceeding 85 decibels.

3. The individual may be occasionally exposed to flammable liquids or gases, dust, fumes or airborne particles. The individual may also be occasionally exposed to cleaners, degreasers, polishes, greases, adhesives, coatings or other chemicals with varying degrees of health and flammability dangers.

4. The individual may be exposed to materials with sharp edges that could cause punctures, abrasions or cuts. The individual may also be exposed to power hand tools that could cause serious injury.
