The Construction Technician is responsible for supporting the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater systems. This role involves working on a variety of projects including wastewater treatment plants, sewer systems, and pumping stations. The technician ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Work Schedule: Full-time with potential overtime during peak construction periods or emergencies.

Work Location: This position will primarily be based in Houston and surrounding areas, with responsibilities extending to various project sites, as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment, pipelines, and other infrastructure.
  • Support the construction of new wastewater facilities and the expansion or modification of existing facilities.
  • Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and pumps.
  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of wastewater systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Perform repairs on wastewater systems including replacing broken pipes, fixing leaks, and maintaining equipment.
  • Prepare construction sites, including excavating trenches, setting up forms, and laying pipes.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and compliance with regulations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as pipe breaks or system malfunctions.

Required Qualifications and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Technical training or certification in wastewater management or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficient in operating construction equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
  • Valid driver’s license. Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, confined space entry) are a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
