Job Description:

Direct actuarial related work / projects for own area, prepares, and performs a range of actuarial analysis, research and validations. Make recommendations for final work product or outcomes. May have primary responsibility in one or more functional or business area. Begin to communicate actuarial ideas and workproductto a broad range of stakeholders.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

CUSTOMER

  • Direct, prepare, perform, and analyze actuarial research and ensure risk mitigation and business growth objectives are aligned

  • Develop appropriate monitoring reports for analyzing companylong tailclaims experience

  • Collaborate withtheclaimsoperationsteaminthe identification of key performance indicatorsand metrics

  • Buildproper visualization(dashboards)or presentation to illustrate trendsfor the legal team

  • Develop analyses to identify areas of opportunities/improvements

  • Review and interpret the indications of standard actuarial techniques, and recognize situations that require modifications to normal procedures

  • Coordinate the preparation of documentation to support actuarial conclusions

  • Work in partnership withtheclaims operations and legalteamsto provide day-to-day support and delivery of analytics

SHAREHOLDER

  • Develop and enhance functional procedures including review for actuarial soundness

  • Ensure maintenance of controls, policies and procedures for the actuarial function

  • Support implementation of best practices, risk mitigation, risk controls as well as process, policy and procedures for the actuarial function.

  • Assist with organization's financial structure, complete financial projections, and perform actuarial analysis

  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for our business area

  • Ensure respective programs/policies/practices are well managed,meetbusiness needs,complieswith internal and external requirements, andalignswith business priorities

  • Ensure business operationsare in compliance withapplicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)

  • Participate in cross-functional / enterprise / initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations

  • Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development/ delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience

  • Lead / facilitate and/or implement actions / remediation plans to address performance/risk/governance issues

  • Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements

  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree inActuarialScienceor related field

  • 5+ years ofactuarial experience in Property & Casualty insurance

  • Generally working towards a Fellowship(CAS or CIA)

  • Proficiency and interest in programming, preferably Python and SQL

  • Knowledge of PowerBI an asset
