Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsibilities include but not limited to: ย 

  • The incumbent is responsible for patient assessment, respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, arterial puncture and sample analysis, and point-of-care testing. ย 
  • Administers treatment modalities and aerosolized medications to patients. ย 
  • Provides ventilator management, including patient assessment and intervention.
  • Uses respiratory care equipment, prepares medication and supplies.
  • The incumbent is responsible for responding to Code Blue situations and providing appropriate intervention including but not limited to BLS and airway management.
  • Is responsible for providing quality care to patients who require respiratory care expertise.
  • The incumbent staff member also demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. ย 
  • He or she must be able to assess and interpret data about patientโ€™s status in order to identify each patientโ€™s needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the specific patient group. ย 
  • Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations, also be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures.
  • Must be able to work in Adult Critical Areas and Emergency Department. ย 
  • Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator. ย 

This is a non-union position.ย 

FTE 0.3 - Variable -ย Noc (1830-0700) Days (0630-1900)

Education: As established by the Respiratory Care Board of California to obtain California RCP license.

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of previous clinical/hospital experience preferred; Adult Critical Care and ventilator management experience preferred.

Licenses/Certificates: ย

  • BLS from American Heart Associationย 
  • ACLS from American Heart Associationย 
  • NRP Certificationย
