Job Description Summary
The Podcast Editor is responsible for overseeing the creation, production, and editing of the newspaper's podcast content. This role involves managing the entire podcast production process, including conceptualization, guest booking, interviewing, recording, editing, and publication.
Responsibilities
Develop and Produce Podcast Episodes:
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to plan and develop podcast episodes that align with the papers content strategy.
  • Record, edit, and produce 1 podcast episode per week.
  • Manage the scheduling and logistics of podcast recording sessions.
  • Write scripts and prepare interview questions for interview.
  • Develop a weekly Chapman-centric podcast in partnership with Chapman Radio.

Work with Editorial Team:
  • Attend weekly staff and editorial board meetings throughout each semester.

Ensure High-Quality Audio Production:
  • Edit and mix audio recordings, ensuring clear sound quality and seamless transitions.

Publish and Promote Podcast Episodes:
  • Manage the distribution of podcast episodes on various platforms (e.g., Apple Podcasts, Spotify, SoundCloud).
  • Work with the Digital Marketing team to create promotional materials, including episode descriptions, social media posts, and graphics.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop strategies for increasing podcast visibility and audience engagement.

Required Qualifications
  • Background in podcast production.

Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience with The Panther or a comparable publication.
  • Proficiency in audio editing software.
