Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
- Valid Texas Journeyman [or higher] Plumber license
- Valid Backflow license or be able to obtain one in 180 days
- Plumbing experience and knowledge of plumbing concepts, codes and laws; EPA regulations, safety procedures and regulations; repair and maintenance of all types of plumbing fixtures and their apparatus.
- Experience working independently and as part of a team troubleshooting and correcting plumbing challenges, including emergency responses.
- Available and willing to work after-hours on-call duty, on a rotating basis with other shop personnel
Preferred Qualifications
- Master Plumber license
- Previous employment experience as a plumber (or equivalent) in government and/or higher education environment
- Experience with AiM (Assetworks) Integrated Work Management System
Job Description
Responsible for providing emergency response to maintenance oriented calls or plumbing emergencies.
Job Duties
- Maintain and operate heavy equipment.
Repair water and sewer lines pumps, faucets, water closets, tubs, showers, water heaters on emergency basis, as needed.
- Train and mentor other plumbing shop personnel
- Unstop clogged water closets, urinals, sinks, bathtubs, shower and floor drains, and sewers; repair water, gas, and sewer lines; repair/replace laboratory faucets, traps, and sinks; and repair/replace hose bibs; and test and repair backflow devices. Unclog storm and roof drains.
- Repair, replace, varied plumbing fixtures on campus. Construct, remove or rough-in fixtures in varied campus bldg., properties.
- Install or maintain various water, gas, air, sewer, as needed, at various campus facilities.
- Complete daily mileage, work logs and requisition parts, materials, personnel.
- Complete electronic work logs and requisition parts, materials, personnel.
- Complies with all state and university policies.
- Works various schedules and required to be on call.
- Required to carry a cell phone.
- Operate a university vehicle.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information to Applicants
- Must be available and willing to work after hours, on-call duty on a rotating basis with other shop personnel.
- This position requires driving University vehicles.
