Job description

3CON is looking for a PLC Programmer to add to our staff in Wixom, MI. PLC Programmers write PLC programs, commission automation systems, and support our shipped products in the field, for our custom automated tooling and machinery. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver, who works well in a fast-paced environment to achieve customer milestones. Quick learning is a must along with the ability to independently research solutions. Interested candidates with PLC programming experience are encouraged to apply and 3CON product-specific training will be provided. The position is available to experienced programmers and compensation corresponds to experience and skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write and modify PLC programs according to company standards
  • Commission controls hardware and software both locally and at customer sites
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Support customers and resolve issues in the field
  • Assist in department projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 2 years experience with Allen Bradley PLC systems, Siemens PLC systems, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk Studio PLCs
  • Familiar with other programming languages (C++, Java, Python, etc.)
  • Ability to research problems and issues independently and come up with solutions
  • Working knowledge of MS Windows 10, MS Office 365
  • Familiar with Allen Bradley PLC systems, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk Studio
  • Able to troubleshoot electrical systems (mostly DC control circuits)
  • Familiar with networking protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, OPC
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (VISA sponsorship not possible)
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MES or other industrial process tracking systems is preferred
  • Experience with TIA Portal, WinCC
  • German language skills
