Job Description PLC Programmer Location: Chesterfield, VA Pay: $40.00-$58.00/hour Position Overview M Force Partners is seeking a hands-on PLC Programmer to support the design, programming, integration, and commissioning of custom automated machinery and industrial automation systems. This PLC Programmer role will work across the full project lifecycle, from controls development and PLC programming to machine startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer support. The ideal PLC Programmer will have experience with industrial automation, PLC programming, HMI development, robotics integration, and custom machine builds while enjoying a collaborative, project-based environment

Key Responsibilities Develop, program, modify, test, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems for custom automated equipment Program and support Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, and Keyence PLC platforms Design, integrate, test, and commission custom automation systems Develop and modify HMI applications to support machine operation and diagnostics Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, motion control systems, and automated equipment Assist with startup, debugging, and commissioning of automated machinery at manufacturing facilities and customer sites Integrate industrial and collaborative robotic systems into automated production equipment Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and technical documentation Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering teams throughout machine design and build projects Provide technical support during equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance testing Document programming revisions, project updates, and technical documentation Manage multiple automation projects while meeting customer expectations and project deadlines Travel occasionally to customer locations for equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and service support Required Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in PLC programming, industrial automation, controls engineering, or a related field Experience programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or Keyence PLCs Experience supporting custom machine builds and industrial automation systems Experience developing or modifying HMI applications Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control documentation Strong electrical troubleshooting and controls diagnostics experience Experience working with automated manufacturing equipment Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team Willingness to travel occasionally to customer locations Preferred Qualifications Experience integrating industrial or collaborative robots including FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or Universal Robots (UR) Experience with industrial networking and communication protocols Experience with VFDs, servo drives, motion control systems, and machine safety Experience commissioning automated manufacturing equipment Experience working for a machine builder, systems integrator, OEM, or industrial manufacturing company Automation project coordination or project management experience Job presented by M Force Partners M Force Partners is a specialized recruitment partner connecting top-tier talent with leading organizations.
