The Player Development Assistant primarily supports athlete training and development, often focusing on skill improvement and practice logistics. Coaches, on the other hand, lead training sessions, develop game strategies, and make real-time decisions during competitions. While both roles work closely with athletes, the Player Development Assistant typically has a more supportive, administrative, or technical focus, whereas the Coach has a leadership and decision-making role within the team.

What degree do you need for a player development assistant?

A player development assistant typically needs at least a high school diploma or equivalent; however, many employers prefer candidates with a bachelor's degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field. Relevant skills include knowledge of sports training, communication, and organization, and some positions may require certifications in first aid or coaching.

What is a player development assistant?

Player Development Assistants are professionals who support athletes—often in sports organizations or teams—by helping them improve both on and off the field. Their responsibilities can include mentoring players, assisting with training programs, providing resources for personal growth, and facilitating communication between players and coaching staff. They may also help with life skills, academic support, or career planning to ensure the holistic development of athletes. This role is crucial in fostering a positive environment and maximizing each player's potential.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a player development assistant?

To thrive as a Player Development Assistant, you need a solid understanding of athletic training, sports psychology, and player evaluation, often supported by a degree in sports management or a related field. Familiarity with athlete performance tracking systems, video analysis tools, and basic data analytics software is commonly required. Strong interpersonal communication, organization, and problem-solving skills help you effectively support players and coaching staff. These abilities are vital for fostering player growth, maximizing performance, and ensuring smooth coordination within sports organizations.

What does a player development assistant do?

A Player Development Assistant plays a key role in supporting both athletes and coaches by coordinating logistics for practices, games, and travel, managing athlete schedules, and helping implement training programs. They often act as a liaison between players and staff, handle administrative tasks, and assist with video analysis or scouting reports. This hands-on role requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to build positive relationships within the team. It's a great entry point for those interested in sports management or coaching, offering exposure to multiple aspects of athletic program operations.

Job description

Full-Time / Part-Time | On-Site in Eastvale, CA
Not Your Typical Sales Job
If you're curious, outgoing, comfortable trying new things, and excited about where AI and social media are taking the business world, this could be the opportunity for you.
We're not looking for someone to walk door-to-door with a stack of flyers. This is a modern business development role built around direct communication, digital content, social media, video, and AI-powered tools.
You'll connect with contractors and business owners across the country through phone calls, video, social media, email, and occasional in-person conversations. You'll also help create content, participate in video shoots, and sometimes appear on camera as a host or product presenter.
No lighting industry experience? That's completely fine. We'll train you.
What matters most is your energy, curiosity, communication skills, and desire to become a confident business professional.

About Us
We are a growing lighting company based in Eastvale, California, serving contractors and businesses throughout the United States.
We care about quality products, responsive customer service, and long-term relationships. We're also actively exploring new ways to use AI, social media, and digital content to connect with customers and grow our business.
We're looking for someone who wants to learn with us, experiment with new ideas, and make a visible impact as the company grows.

What You'll Do
  • Connect with contractors and business owners nationwide to introduce our company and develop new business opportunities.
  • Make outbound phone calls and follow up with prospective customers.
  • Communicate with customers through phone, email, social media, video, and occasional face-to-face conversations.
  • Work closely with our B2B Manager on daily sales, customer follow-up, and operational tasks.
  • Help create social media content, including posts, photos, short-form videos, product demonstrations, and behind-the-scenes content.
  • Participate in video shoots and occasionally appear on camera as a host or product presenter.
  • Learn and use AI tools to improve research, communication, content creation, sales workflows, and productivity.
  • Participate in the testing and development of new AI-supported workflows and internal tools.
  • Research potential customers and organize prospect information.
  • Enter and maintain accurate customer and sales records.
  • Bring fresh ideas to the team and help us experiment with new ways to reach and engage customers.
  • Assist with general office and administrative tasks as needed.
You Might Be a Great Fit If You Are
  • Naturally curious and genuinely excited to try new things.
  • Outgoing and energized by talking with people.
  • Comfortable communicating directly by phone, video, and in person-not just through text or email.
  • Willing to appear on camera and participate in social media content.
  • Open to feedback and not easily discouraged when learning something new.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and ready to take initiative.
  • Interested in building real-world skills in sales, communication, content creation, and business development.
  • Excited about AI and interested in learning how new tools can be used in everyday business.
  • Organized and able to manage several tasks in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Serious about becoming a capable and confident business professional.
  • A team player who wants to contribute, grow, and make things happen.
You do not need to arrive knowing everything. We value people who ask questions, learn quickly, take action, and improve along the way.

Helpful, but Not Required
  • Experience in sales, customer service, social media, content creation, or office administration.
  • Experience filming, presenting, or editing short-form videos.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, or LinkedIn.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Experience using CRM software.
  • Experience with AI tools for writing, research, design, video, automation, or productivity.
Don't check every box? We still encourage you to apply. Skills can be taught-curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to grow are what matter most to us.

What You'll Gain
  • Paid, hands-on training.
  • Full-time and part-time opportunities.
  • Practical experience in B2B sales and business development.
  • Opportunities to develop professional communication and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on exposure to social media, video content, and AI-powered business tools.
  • The chance to test ideas and contribute to real projects.
  • Career growth opportunities within a growing company.
  • A supportive team that values initiative, experimentation, and continuous learning.
Work Location
This is an on-site position in Eastvale, California.
Team members are expected to work from our Eastvale office on their scheduled workdays. Remote work is not available for this position.
