Job description

Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per quarter

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior AV Platform Manager to lead the strategic direction, governance, and operations of the enterprise AV and unified communications platform. This senior-level (SN grade) role is accountable for end-to-end management of a multi-platform AV environment-including Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), Zoom Rooms, cloud video interoperability (e.g., PexIP CVI), AV control systems, and AV-over-IP networking-within a regulated enterprise setting. The ideal candidate combines deep AV/UC technical expertise with strong leadership to guide engineers, partner cross-functionally, and deliver a secure, scalable, and reliable collaboration ecosystem. Emphasis is on executive meeting support, regulatory compliance, and hybrid workforce enablement. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability to architect solutions, mentor staff, and interface with senior stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

The Senior AV Platform Manager will oversee platform strategy, day-to-day operations and governance, technical engineering, team leadership, vendor management, user experience, and analytics. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Platform Strategy & Roadmap

Develop and execute a multi-year AV/collaboration roadmap aligned with IT and business strategies, including capital planning and TCO analysis.

Evaluate and rationalize AV technologies; establish enterprise standards and room archetype templates (boardrooms, huddle spaces, training rooms, etc.).

Partner with Real Estate, Facilities, and Workplace Technology teams to integrate AV standards into new builds and renovations.

Stay current on AV-over-IP, cloud collaboration, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI-driven meeting features); provide innovative recommendations to leadership.

Research platform outsourcing opportunities to optimize service delivery, reduce operational overhead, and improve cost efficiency while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

Platform Operations & Governance

Own end-to-end AV platform operations, ensuring high availability and performance. Establish proactive monitoring and incident management using AV/UC analytics tools.

Enforce governance policies covering configuration management, change control, and documentation aligned with ITIL/ITSM best practices and enterprise security/compliance requirements. Maintain audit-ready documentation.

Manage AV asset lifecycle-inventory, firmware updates, refresh cycles, decommissioning-to avoid obsolescence and vulnerabilities.

Team Leadership & Development

Manage, mentor, and develop a team of AV/collaboration engineers, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Oversee capacity planning, team scheduling (including executive/large-scale event coverage), and resource allocation. Set performance goals and deliver evaluations.

Supervise vendor technicians, contractors, and managed service providers, ensuring adherence to SLAs and quality standards.

Platform Engineering & Delivery

Direct the design and deployment of AV/UC solutions (MTR, Zoom Rooms, PexIP CVI) ensuring cross-platform connectivity and enterprise architecture alignment at scale.

Oversee configuration, testing, and lifecycle of AV hardware/software (Teams-certified devices, Cisco/Poly endpoints, Crestron/Extron controls, AV-over-IP, QoS, device security).

Serve as top-tier escalation for critical AV incidents (board meetings, executive broadcasts, regulatory hearings); drive root-cause analysis and prevention.

Partner with network, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure proper integration, VLAN segmentation, and bandwidth/QoS for collaboration spaces.

Vendor & Partner Management

Act as primary technical and commercial liaison for major AV vendors (Microsoft, Zoom, Cisco/Poly, Pexip, Crestron, AV integrators). Manage contracts, SLAs, and performance reviews.

Lead procurement and vendor selection (RFP/RFI, evaluations, negotiations) ensuring offerings meet enterprise security and scalability requirements.

Engage vendor product teams to influence roadmaps and resolve complex escalations. Evaluate emerging vendors and technologies to keep the platform competitive.

Review new technologies and solutions with alternative vendors for potential replacement of current hardware, ensuring the AV environment remains modern, cost-effective, and aligned with evolving enterprise needs.

User Experience & Adoption

Champion intuitive, seamless AV experiences for in-person and remote participants, with special focus on executive, client-facing, and regulated meetings.

Collect and analyze user feedback and room telemetry to drive continuous improvement in AV service quality.

Develop training materials, end-user guides, and adoption programs in collaboration with Communications and Change Management teams.

Analytics, Automation & Reporting

Leverage analytics platforms (Vyopta, Teams Admin Center, Zoom dashboards) to monitor room utilization, system health, and meeting performance; proactively address issues.

Develop and present KPIs and operational reports (uptime, adoption, incident trends) to senior leadership, translating technical metrics into business insights.

Drive automation (PowerShell, Python, ITSM tools) for device monitoring, configuration management, and incident response to improve operational efficiency.

What You'll Bring:

Experience:

8+ years in enterprise AV, unified communications, or collaboration technology roles managing multi-site, large-scale deployments.

3-5+ years in team leadership or senior technical management, directing AV/UC engineers through complex rollouts and migrations.

Demonstrated success operating enterprise AV platforms at scale in regulated or mission-critical industries (financial services, insurance, healthcare, government preferred).

Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, and third-party providers; familiarity with ITIL-based service management and IT project management.

Technical Expertise:

Deep knowledge of MTR, Zoom Rooms, and video interoperability solutions (PexIP/CVI, SIP/H.323).

Hands-on experience with AV/UC hardware (HP/Poly, Cisco, Barco ClickShare, Crestron/Extron, digital signage, room scheduling panels).

Strong understanding of AV-over-IP (Dante, NDI), VoIP, QoS, VLAN configuration, and network principles for AV traffic.

Experience with AV monitoring/analytics platforms (Vyopta, Crestron Xio Cloud) and ITSM tools (ServiceNow).

Working knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python) and APIs for automation and system integration.

Leadership & Soft Skills:

Strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to translate AV data into actionable platform improvements.

Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills across IT, Facilities, Security, Compliance, and Business Units.

Strong communication skills; comfortable presenting to executive and non-technical audiences as the senior AV/Collaboration SME.

Excellent project management abilities; able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously under pressure.

Customer-centric mindset committed to outstanding user experiences and continuous service improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications: AVIXA CTS/CTS-D/CTS-I, manufacturer credentials (Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Shure), Microsoft Teams Rooms Solutions Expert, Zoom Rooms Certified Integrator, PMP, or ITIL.

Prior AV/UC platform management experience in highly regulated industries.

Exposure to digital signage, executive broadcast/webcast, large-scale boardroom AV, cloud-managed AV, or AV-as-a-Service models.

DevOps/Infrastructure-as-Code mindset applied to AV deployments and integrated IT operations workflows.
