Plate Section Roll Operator - 1st Shift
Location: Ooltewah, TN
Shift: 1st Shift
Pay: $20.00 production based
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Plate Section Roll Operator to join our metal fabrication team in Ooltewah, TN. This is a hands-on production role operating plate rolling machines to bend, shape, and form metal plates and sections into arcs, cylinders, cones, or custom shapes according to blueprints and specifications. If you have experience in metal fabrication and enjoy working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, this is a great opportunity on 1st shift with competitive pay.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and tend plate rolling machines to form metal plates/sheets into required shapes (cylinders, cones, bends, etc.)
  • Load and position heavy steel plates using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, job orders, and specifications to determine machine setup, material requirements, and sequence of operations
  • Adjust machine settings (rolls, guides, stops) for different material thicknesses and curvatures
  • Monitor machine operation to detect issues, ensure product conformance, and perform quality inspections using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, straightedges)
  • Perform basic maintenance on equipment and maintain a clean, safe work area
  • Document production, quality checks, and any defects
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals safely and efficiently
Qualifications and Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience as a Plate Roll Operator, Section Roll Operator, or similar role in metal fabrication/manufacturing (preferred)
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts (certification a plus)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Basic math skills and ability to use precision measuring tools
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and stand for extended periods
  • Commitment to safety protocols and a positive team attitude
