BUYER/PLANNER
Elkhart, IN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for rubber manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate production priorities based on customer demand, lead times, labor availability, and machine capacity.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and adjust plans as needed to minimize downtime and late orders.
  • Work closely with operations leadership to balance throughput, inventory, and service levels.
  • Purchase raw materials, packaging, and production-related supplies to support operational requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Track supplier lead times, delivery performance, and material shortages.
  • Assist with inventory analysis, cycle counts, and material accuracy initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate planning, purchasing, and inventory data within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Generate and analyze reports related to inventory, production schedules, shortages, and supplier performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning processes and inventory control.
  • Communicate effectively with production, warehouse, customer service, and suppliers to ensure alignment on priorities.
  • Support problem-solving efforts related to material shortages, schedule changes, and production constraints.
  • Participate in operations meetings and assist with capacity and demand planning activities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Preferred 7+ years of experience in production scheduling, planning, purchasing, inventory control, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in rubber manufacturing or related industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Understanding of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management principles.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred but not required based on experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with production scheduling in a make-to-order or mixed-mode manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of raw material planning and supplier coordination.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with attention to detail and process discipline.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS amp; WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods (up to 80% of shift).
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Work performed in both office and manufacturing settings.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, non-climate-controlled areas, and non-toxic fumes at times.
  • Compensation $60,000 - $80,000
