Job description

Plasma Machine Operator
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Location: Houston, TX 77039
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours / week,  Overtime as required
Position Description: 
Operator will be responsible for operating plasma machine and producing quality flame cut parts in the most productive manner possible while maintaining safe work practices.  Operator will work as a team with all other shop employees to efficiently produce and move parts through the shop and to our customers. This position does not require drawing or programming skills.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Staging:  moving heavy material to load table and ready for shipment; load programs as required; set up machine/tools for each job; verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces
  • Controlling Machines and Processes:  using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines & processes
  • Troubleshooting:  taking corrective measures & communicating with supervisors should problems emerge during the process
  • Inspect and measure parts
  • Efficient scrap utilization
  • Perform basic maintenance of machine
  • Maintain safe operations following safety procedures & regulations
  • Perform other related duties as required


Qualifications (applicant must possess the following skills):

  • 2+ years of experience with oxy/fuel and/or plasma burning of plate
  • Ability to operate the following equipment as needed: forklift, hand cutting torch, hand grinder
  • Possess knowledge of basic math skills: ability to add, subtract and multiply whole numbers, decimals and fractions; convert decimals to fractions and vice versa; accurately use various measuring tools
  • Ability to read work instructions in English.
  • Must be able to work without close supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime is desired; flexibility to hours/shifts worked a plus
  • Bilingual a plus, but not required.
