Job description

New Tech Global Staffing is currently seeking a Plasma Coatings Supervisor for a client located in Cleveland, TXto join their team. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Pay: Competitive

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 1st Shift

Summary

Responsible for overseeing daily thermal spray coating operations with a primary focus on Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) components. The Plasma Coatings Supervisor will lead coating technicians and operators, ensure production schedules are met, maintain quality and safety standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the coating department.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate plasma spray coating operations for IGT components including blades, vanes, combustors, and related hardware

Lead, train, and mentor coating technicians and operators

Ensure all coatings meet customer specifications, OEM requirements, and company quality standards

Monitor, maintain, and optimize thermal spray processes including Plasma Spray, HVOF, grit blasting, and surface preparation

Review and interpret engineering drawings, coating specifications, process sheets, and work instructions

Maintain production schedules and ensure on-time delivery of customer orders

Troubleshoot coating defects and implement corrective and preventive actions

Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve process efficiency and product quality

Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies

Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance activities as needed

Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and cost reduction

Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development

Ensure proper documentation and process records are completed accurately

Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required

Associate degree or technical certification preferred

Minimum 5 years of experience in thermal spray, plasma spray, or coating operations

Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience

Direct experience working with Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) components

Strong understanding of plasma spray, HVOF, grit blasting, and surface preparation processes

Experience with coating materials including ceramics, bond coats, and Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs)

Knowledge of inspection methods and quality standards related to thermal spray coatings

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Proficient computer skills and experience with production documentation

Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working to OEM standards such as GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or similar turbine manufacturers

Familiarity with NADCAP or comparable quality management systems

Knowledge of metallurgy and coating performance characteristics

Experience with automated or robotic plasma spray systems

Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience preferred

Work Environment

Manufacturing and industrial environment

Regular exposure to heat, noise, dust, and coating materials

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as required throughout the workday

Must be able to work safely around thermal spray equipment and industrial machinery
