Job description

General Description:

To effectively support and organize machine shop operations.  The position serves as a focal point of all machining operations within the company and requires coordination of work with other departmental supervisors, machinists, sub-contractors, engineering, and management to ensure timely delivery of quality parts.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC turning center and other machining equipment as needed.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and follow traveler routing steps to complete a job.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to specification using tools such as calipers, height gauges, micrometers, etc.
  • Setup of cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts and cutting tools on a CNC machine.
  • Work with other departments to provide support regarding machining methods, inspection procedures, production equipment, etc.·      
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings.
  • Abide by all company policies and procedures. 
  • Perform all job-related tasks as assigned by upper management. 
Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School degree, diploma or a GED required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience with operation of a CNC machine, tool set-ups, and inspection in a production environment.
  • Knowledge and/or Experience of Fanuc controls (HAAS a plus)
  • Ability to read and understand G code
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to use Measuring Tools (calipers, indicators, etc.)
  • Knowledge and/or Experience with production travelers and routers.
  • Candidate must have an excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work well independently and effectively within a team and are able to coordinate efforts with fellow co-workers.
  • Candidate needs a strong appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on time.
  • Candidate should have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands
